Rechargeable lithium-polymer batteries are required for the shoes to be functional and can last for about two weeks after three hours of charging.
The shoes will be charged with a magnetic clip-on charger. An internal cable system that comprises of a pressure sensor in the sole and fishing line is present in each shoe.
Once the shoes are worn, they will adjust to the size of your feet using expandable nylon bands that are visible along the tongue and on both sides of each shoe by pushing the button. LED lights will serve as indicators when the motor is running and for low battery.
As stated by a wired post, Tinker Hatfield, Nike’s vice president of creative concepts has been enthusiastic about this project for years. He commented, “We’re talking about a project that’s maybe the most difficult in the history of footwear, I’m more excited about this than any project I’ve ever been involved with.”
Nike is yet to reveal the price of the sneakers but they are not expected to be cheap.
